Sturt Desert Pea Clay Earrings
These beautiful handcrafted polymer clay earrings feature the stunning and distinctive Sturt’s Desert Pea (Swainsona formosa) – floral emblem of South Australia and an iconic wildflower that is notoriously hard to grow outside its natural desert environment
Captured with technical prowess using the complex cane technique (whereby the pattern extends through an entire length of clay, each earring being a ‘slice’ of the cane) by Tasmanian artist Abie of Wattle and Bear.
Earrings measure approximately 2.5 cm high, 2.2 cm wide and 0.5 cm thick, with a hanging length of 4.5cm on black wire clasped hooks.
About the artist
Abie started experimenting with clay almost two years ago, and what started out as a weekend experiment between university studies and nursing shifts quickly became a way to capture the joy of the natural world and a much needed creative outlet. Her stunning, intricately detailed floral arrangements and technical prowess have made her work highly sought after.
