About the artist
Jess Racklyeft is a Melbourne based illustrator with 12 books to her name, however this is the first she has authored. Inspired by early travels right across Australia, Jess uses water colour and digital collage to create her masterpieces – road tested by her two small children. Always creative, Jess dreamed of illustrating books as a youngster but it took a degree in communications, a stint working in publishing and the opportunity of maternity leave to nudge her to combining her passions for drawing and books and strike out as a freelancer. Her work has graced cards, picture books, paintings, prints, surface design, pins and numerous commercial projects, and she was been awarded the CBCA Notable Picture Book of the Year for two years running.
