About the artists
Canberra based Author Catherine Meatheringham loves stories with noise and music to encourage young children’s active participation. My Possum Plays the Drums is her first children’s book and has been shortlisted for the Speech Pathology Australia Book of the Year 2020. Catherine sits on the Committee for the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators ACT branch, which supports aspiring, emerging and established authors and illustrators in the ACT.
Illustrator Max Hamilton is a Sydney-based illustrator and graphic designer, who’s pencil and watercolour images have graced greeting cards, magazines, children’s clothing, packaging, surface design, art prints and commercial projects. Max is inspired by native Australian flora and fauna, and building on her degrees in Fine Art (College of Fine Arts UNSW) and Graphic Design and Illustration (Enmore Design Centre TAFE) and substantial experience, she is thrilled to fulfil a life ling dream of illustrating children’s books.
